Absolutely stunning property! The grounds are immaculately maintained, with the crocuses and snowdrops blooming beautifully. We went to two flight shows at the bird of prey sanctuary, and they were great- the handler is so knowledgeable about the great range of birds they have. A lovely day out!

We love nature and this place is fabulous however it's dog friendly but then your dog can't be in the cafe so that's dumb and then it's pretty expensive really.

A very enjoyable walk around. We bought a discounted voucher thinking it could be used any time, but it needed to be used within a month of purchase. This meant we visited earlier in the year than we would have liked. I wasn't sure how much there would be to enjoy, being February. However, we were pleasantly surprised. The main paths are gravel, so our boots didn't get muddy and there were lots of snowdrops out. The lakes and streams had swans and ducks. The bird of prey centre was great, and I have reviewed this separately. The onsite cafe was nice, serving teas and coffee and a selection of cakes. The only downside was a lack of anywhere indoors to sit with your dog, as they were not allowed in the tearoom or the birds of prey (understandably). A small indoor cabin with some benches would be great to sit with your pet and enjoy your coffee, especially with the cold February winds! Otherwise, an enjoyable visit and we're wanting to come again in autumn to see the colours in the trees.

Poor caged birds...
The place is nice for a walk though.

A lovely large park with lots of meandering paths and different tree species including redwoods and there are currently snowdrops everywhere! Clean toilets and a great little cafe with lovely food.
The highlights were the incredible bird flying displays with many different birds of prey including rare breeds, owls and extremely fast falcons. They also had many other birds including eagles, kookaburras, ravens, hawks etc. The falconer handling the birds was extremely knowledgeable and experienced, we could have listened to him all day! A great day out despite the cold weather!

Nice walk but wouldn't go again. The enclosures for the birds of prey were so incredibly small they could hardly expand their wings, it felt cruel to be there looking at them. On top of that, their water bowls were all frozen over thick like they'd been like that for a while...we saw one of the birds pecking at the bowl trying to get a drink. Felt expensive for what it was, just essentially plain gardens with nothing to see or do unlike other stately homes and gardens, being in the Yorkshire Dale's there's plenty of free walks where you can see wildlife free, not caged up without access to water.

Beautiful arboretum with a fantastic bird section. The birds fly so close they touch you! Magical. My grand kids said it was the real santa, he was that good.

Just beautiful on a sunny winter's day. Bare bones of trees, low sun through the evergreens and frosted undergrowth. A very good value lunch and half price to get in at the moment.

I have been several.times for Halloween, and now came for Xmas!!! I did expect more of a christmas trail round the arboretum, especially over the bog a little tinsel and a few more lights could be added. But the santa experience was brilliant!!!!
Definitely recommend!

We've been here before, but in the summer a few years ago. This time, it was bitterly cold, but it was still a great time walking around the grounds and seeing the autumn colours from the trees. The wallabies are great, and we loved the bird of prey and owl show. The staff are friendly and helpful and I would recommend a visit if you've not been before.

We recently visited for the Halloween Trail and visited the bird of prey and mammal enclosure. Our granddaughter absolutely loved it. Nice food in the restaurant, though it can get really busy. Lots of areas to explore with lots of photo opportunities. Highly recommended.

Honestly one of my favourite places I’ve ever visited. The nature here is beautiful, and I would especially recommend going in the autumn months! The bird sanctuary is fab, and the demonstration was super informative! Would definitely recommend for couples and families, there’s so much for kids to do including themed trails such as Halloween trails! If you’re a nature lover like myself, you’ll never want to leave this place!
